This is the Feast of victory for our God! Alleluia! In every other religion on earth, you feed your god with your sacrifices. In Christianity, your God feeds you with His Sacrifice. Wow! We're talking about the Lord's Supper in this retreat. We're going to whet your appetite from the Scriptures (Old and New Testaments), the Catechism (Small and Large), and the Liturgy. Prepare to get hungry. Prepare to be fed. This is the Feast!

 Pastor Cwirla is the pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hacienda Heights, CA where he has served for 16 years since he was ordained in 1992. His wife's name is Karen. He is the President of Higher Things and a frequent conference speaker and teacher. He enjoys scuba diving, bicycling, great food, good wine, guitar, and woodworking. He's a home improvement weekend warrior with a passion for trim carpentry. Born and raised in Chicago, Pastor Cwirla is an avid hockey and baseball fan and a devoted follower of "Da Bears", although he has been known to root for the Packers when "Da Bears" are not involved. He thinks Door County is one of the coolest places on earth.

 On Saturday night, as part of our retreat, we are pleased to present Erin Bode and the Bode Group in concert at the historic Stefanie H. Weill Center. Proceeds will benefit LCMS World Relief and Human Care. Erin grew up in Wayzata, MN, a suburb of Minneapolis, knowing that she wanted to perform. By age five, she was singing with the choir at Redeemer Lutheran Church, where her father, the Rev. Gerhard Bode, was pastor. Her music style is categorized as adult contemporary and jazz-oriented. She has been compared to Norah Jones and Eva Cassidy. One reviewer on Amazon.com said this about her latest CD, “The Little Garden”: “There may be singers better known, but none better. Treat yourself to this CD, then make your best effort to see Erin & Company live. You will not be disappointed by either.” Proceeds will benefit LCMS World Relief and Human Care.

Retreat Choir

Everyone attending the retreat is invited to sing in the retreat choir. The choir will sing during the 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning service at Trinity. A rehearsal will be held on Saturday from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. in the music room to learn the music. Please indicate your voice preference on the individual registration form.

Each group must fill out a “Group Registration” form, along with an “Individual Registration” form for each participant. Each group is also expected to provide at least one adult chaperone
for every five teens. Completed forms with checks payable to “Trinity Lutheran Church” must be postmarked no later than January 12, 2009. Early bird registration deadline is 12/05/08.
Space is limited to 100 participants, so register soon.

Early bird price: $45 per participant on or before 12/05/08, for both teens and adult chaperones; $55 per participant after 12/05. Registration deadline: 1/12/09. Price includes four meals plus snacks, onsite “campout”, Erin Bode concert and speaker expenses.

Lodging
|
|
Camp out at Trinity Lutheran Church. Males and females will each need separate chaperones. Bring your sleeping bags, pillows, and air mattresses to make yourselves at home. Showers available.
