For extended planned absences, such as vacations, please make a note below of the dates your student will be missing school.

Attendance Policy

  • Students may be excused for up to 10 days per school year for reasons including illness, planned vacations, family emergencies, or medical appointments.

  • A doctor’s note is required for medical-related absences after 10 excused absences.

  • Parents should notify the school office before 8:15 AM if their child will be absent.

  • If a student must leave early for an appointment, parents/guardians must notify the office in advance and sign the child out upon pickup.

Planned Absences & Vacations

  • While family vacations during the school year are discouraged, they count toward the 10 excused absences per year.

  • Parents must notify the teacher and school office at least one week in advance of any planned absence.

  • Homework will generally be provided after the student returns; however, if a teacher and parent agree to work being given before departure, it is due the day the student returns.

Make-Up Work Policy

  • Short-Term Absences (1-2 days):

    • Students are expected to collect and complete any missed assignments upon return.

  • Extended Absences (3+ days):

    • Parents may request assignments to be picked up from the school office.

    • Students will be given one day per day absent to complete and submit make-up work.

    • School-issued Chromebooks may not be taken on vacation, and textbooks will not be photocopied.

  • Late Work:

    • If homework was requested before a planned absence, it must be turned in on the first day back or it will be marked late.

    • Late work will be graded according to the classroom teacher’s late work policy.
